In order to see the point of view of the hosts, we did a interview with a Anonymous who have a apartment in Barcelona and rent it via Airbnb.

What was the main motivation to start renting with Airbnb? 
It's an extra payment, and as I work the vast majority of the day, I don't care to rent a room. 
Do you see a competition with hotels? 
Clearly yes, I mean, Airbnb is a nice option but sometimes people prefer the service offered in a hotel.  
Do you know other owners on Airbnb? 
Yes a few friend of mine have rooms rented in Airbnb, one of them I have recommended to do it. 
How often do you rent it? 
Depends on the season, because the people staying in my apartment stays between 3 days til 1 week so, sometimes i just have one check in per week. 

Have you had any bad experince? 
Yes, not all the customers are lovely and polite, but I try to manage them as all of the others. Anyway I have to say the majority of the people staying is really nice, they understand that this is my home and treated good. 
Do you follow a ritual to welcome tourists?
I welcome them at the apartment and show them their room and the facilities at the apartment, I also give them a map of Barcelona and if they’re nice and I have time I show them around. 
How is your experience with the Airbnb host service?
Good, they send me some emails about if I need something else and to qualificate the staying in of the client I just had. 
Do you consider that the service / help offered by Airbnb is very good, good or deficient?
Good. 
Do you consider that it is profitable to intangible terms?
Yes, it’s nice to share the apartment with nice people, it’s a good opportunity to get to know new nationalities, of course if the client is cool. 
Would you recommend this option to someone else?
Already did and I would do it again. 
Is there anything you would improve on Airbnb service?                                    
Maybe the platform, I had a few problems to upload information and photos the last weeks.

Airbnb and the Hosts-company

For having another point of view of the company communication with the hosts and how they handle their help service, we contact with the Hotel Brummell which manage 4 apartaments thought the platform of Airbnb, they use the App to promote and book the apartments and so the owner leave all the formalities to the hotel. We talked with Alma Tarré, the Reception Manager of the Brummell Hotel, we did a quick interview to understand closely their operations: 

What was the main motivation to start renting with Airbnb? 
The objective was to offer a new option to the customers, trying to mantain the Brummell style but in another accommodation. Also, Airbnb works really good for promotion to the hotel because the clients search for more information and sometimes prefers to stay in the hotel instead of the apartments.  
Do you see a competition with hotels? 
No, it's more like a versatile option, we just offer both accommodations and the client it's who decides.
How often do you rent it?
Not frequently as the hotel, but we normally have between 5-8 check-ins.

no, the service Airbnb offers is one, (to not say the best) service a platform can offer, they're fast solving problmes and always easy to contact.  
Do you follow a ritual to welcome tourists?
THe client has to come to the hotel to de the check in, so here we explain all the details about the apartment, all the facilities and the formalities to do. Then we explain detailed the neighborhood they're staying in and we offer some recommendations of places, restaurants, museums, some tips and advices. At the end on the check in we call a Cabify, which is charged on the hotel, to lead them to their apartment, When they have to check out, we ask them to leave the keys inside the apartment. 
Do you offer any extra help to visitors?
We are 24h connected with the clients via Whatsapp, telephone and email, so anything they need we try to provide.
How is your experience with the Airbnb host service? 
Perfect. They're always cheking the service and if we need some changes, it's really good. 
Do you consider that the service/help offered by Airbnb is very good, good or deficient?
Really good! We wished all the platforms were like them. 
Do you consider that it is profitable to intangible terms?
The profits we have under the apartments is equal as the personal service we offer. 
Is there anything you would improve on Airbnb service?
Actually no, they work pretty good.
